The Benefit of Being Caged

The Benefit of Being Caged was one of the first songs we performed live at the open mics in 2003.  Many will remember this one.   It was also the first one of our originals that my dad and I jammed.  The song was also included in the original Dawning Eternity session.

Thanks for checking the song out.  If you’ve enjoyed the song please feel free to leave any comments or questions below and we’ll get back to you.   We will be back with another song soon.

The Benefit Of Being Caged

In this crazy gone world
freedom’s the word I crave
All these bridges long burned
are making me turn back to the day

Once upon a time we were chained
to a pillar in a cage
forced to make ammends
with our minds before we lost them
to the grind

Now this village is so global
and everyone’s online
with their soul
we’re changing our ideas of prison
from steel bars to false visions

ya boy the benefit of being caged
sure has changed
we’re still trying to break
these chains
but nothing’s changed
nothing’s changed

and in the distant future when
we travel to the ends of the earth
we’ll still be banging the bars
with tin cups ’cause no freedom
is ever enough

ya boy the benefit of being caged
sure has changed
we’re still trying to break
these chains
but nothing’s changed
nothing’s changed

now I’ve lost all I have earned
and I’m destined to burn and bake
but nothing is learned by
being worried by my mistakes

    • Cheers Jack, thanks for the support!

The songs are written by the song writing duo I’m in. Gelinas/Torrington. Generally Torrington writes all the lyrics and I do the music and performance, executive production, etc…

It’s really lots of fun and we are keen to continue with more!

      Have a good one!
